Contact days in September 2013

2 days of contact days in September in Oulu have brought me new learning experiences on various teaching methods and technical teaching toolkits, group work and etc. I would like to say that these classroom teachings were very energetic, interactive and fun to make group works. It was absolutely a worthy time of making progress in my leaning.

Most interesting part of the learning would be Pecha Kucha presentation. For the presentation ready, I spent many hours to correct my narrations fit into 20 seconds. And how to organise and constructing the ideas in 20 slides was also quite a useful lessons. When we shared the presentations, it helped me to know about my classmates and to build our team spirit. Also I am sure that quite much of the presentation images will stay in my long-term memory :) as like the following photo taken from Oulu.

Another interesting part of the learning was group activities. Using QR code in the activities led us out of the classroom and got to know about the school environment and staff.  After we have done 3 different group activities, we’ve learned about how to motivating students, what learning and teaching styles are, and ineffective and effective teaching and learning and so on.

More information about the contact days, please take a look at ” VOC 1” page on this blog: http://pathofnorthernlights.blogspot.fi/p/voc.html

Summer Greetings from North Karelia

When cloudberries were ready to harvest, my family was heading to the North Karelia of Finland.

For us, there were no difficulties to find blueberries in the forest, but cloudberries were more like treasures hard to discover.

After exploring in the swampy land, my love of the nature was getting dipper and dipper. The nature was truly amazing.

I wish a refreshing summer for you all.

The Heart of Paulo Freire

It is incredible to know about how people changed the world by inspiring with his or her new vision of the world and mankind. Paulo Freire is one of the great educators whose teaching has been influencing many people in the world of Education.

His principle on 'Pedagogy of the Oppressed' and his other many important books have been become a foundation of Post-modernism educational system. He brought new teaching ideologies and practices to the roles of educational system and relationships between teacher and students, even further to society.

For example, his teaching about 'Recognition of differences', including class, gender and race, which is believed to be overcome through having dialogues with different people with an attitude of patience and respect. This is very important part of his teaching which should be implemented more in this present time of our schools and societies.

A video 'The Hart of Paulo Freire' can be found on following YouTube link:

I am so glad that I am a member of team called as ‘Freire’ and expecting to be inspired by his teachings during my studies.

Something about me

Hello!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

My name is Mikyong. I come from Korea where is a lamp lighted for the illumination in the East as Tagore described in his poem.

I have so much delighted with the fact, that I am the one of the chosen one for the school of vocational teacher education at OAMK, because I have a hope that this education might lead us to the road of the Sourceville.

This opportunity of education awakens me from the long break of my career since I have left Nokia in 2007. As a computer engineer with a bachelor’s degree of computer science and a teacher’s certificate at Chonnam National University in South-Korea, I have walked only the one way where the leading computer technology was born in multinational companies as like NCR Korea and Nokia.

I have some teaching experiences both in Korea and Finland with subjects of computer software related. At this point, I would like to be a professional teacher who can help other people, who are in the shadow of life's burdens because of lack of educational opportunities.

I am a kind of person who loves nature so much, so I love to play like a child with my Spanish water dog and my Finnish man, especially when we have traveling together on the shore of the northern Arctic Ocean or Lapland.
